COVID-19 measures: What can we do concretely in Monaco this month?

Que faire à Monaco en février ?

The increasing number of contaminations in Europe is once again forcing the governments of its member countries to review their sanitary measures. Do you want to travel to Monaco in February for business or personal reasons? Private Driver Monaco takes stock of the latest restrictions to help you organize your trip.

Our VTC service is always on duty. Thanks to a strict sanitary protocol, we make sure that our clients take no risk when boarding our vehicles. You can therefore book your private driver to go to Monaco on our website. But isn’t life on the spot complicated?

While France seems to be gradually moving towards a partial containment of its population with measures aimed at reducing the appearance of clusters such as the closure of covered shopping centers. However, the situation is different in the Principality of Monaco. Cases are rarer and hospitals are much less under stress. Consequently, the measures are lighter.

It should also be remembered that comings and goings are still allowed between France and Monaco, and more generally between people who are nationals of the European area. Whatever the reason, travel is therefore authorized between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., which means outside curfew. As an exception for border workers working in Monaco, a negative COVID-19 test is however required. Note however that it is possible to perform the PCR test on site, before entering the city.

Shops and tourist attractions are open. However, bars are closed, and restaurants are only allowed to serve Monegasque residents, people working in Monaco upon presentation of a certificate and hotel guests, and at lunchtime only. If the situation does not deteriorate, you will be able to fully enjoy your stay in Monaco in February.

Discover the French Riviera hiking or by VTC

Port de Monaco

The French Riviera and the surroundings of Monaco are full of splendid places to discover. Situated between sea and mountains, this gives rise to magnificent landscapes perched at medium altitude and offering a glimpse of the blue expanse of the Mediterranean.

These landscapes are moreover visible thanks to our VTC drivers who take the roads connecting Nice and the principality during a transfer with a private driver from the airport for example.

A hike from Monaco to Nice ?

To enjoy the French Riviera for a few hours and its landscapes, there are several hikes along the coast. By the sea or slightly climbing in the heights, there is something for everyone.

One of the most beautiful walks connects the Monaco train station to the Riquier train station in Nice. After the departure from the principality, the path climbs up to La Turbie and then passes under the park of La Revère. It then turns westward to go along the park of the great corniche and passes by the Plateau de la Justice and then by the Vinaigrier.

The private driver option

The points of interest that this hike crosses are also accessible by car with one of our VTC drivers. This allows you to avoid the five to six hours of walking required for this easy but long hike, but above all to be sure to travel in comfort.

Covid-19: what will happen to the Monte-Carlo Rally in 2021?

Rallye Monte Carlo

Every year since 1911 the Monte-Carlo car rally has been held, a famous race whose start and finish are in the very heart of the principality. Rest assured, our private drivers have a much more comfortable driving experience and will transport you throughout the region.

In 2021, the dates chosen are from January 20 to 24, but the current pandemic could turn everything upside down.

Is it necessary to cancel?

The health context is unpredictable and may change at any time. The Swedish rally that normally took place in February has already been cancelled.

For the moment, the organizers of the Monte-Carlo Rally are maintaining the prestigious race.

Modified routes

But to be sure, the rally will change its route slightly. Firstly, it is important to respect the closed-door schedule established by the government until January 20 and the night stages are also modified.

Do not forget the Alex storm

Last November a storm hit the south of France and many roads have already been destroyed. These changes come on top of the current health crisis and are even impacting the journeys of our private drivers.

Before reserving your place, do not hesitate to plan a rescue plan by following the news as this rally may take place behind closed doors.

In case it is cancelled, and you are in the Principality, our private Monegasque drivers will be delighted to show you the region and its mythical roads.

Monaco continues to grow

Since 2015 Monaco has been home to a 2 billion euros construction site on its waterfront. This huge figure shows the greatness of the project. Private Driver Monaco tells you all about it.

A new surface out of the water

The work site does not stand on the seashore, it stands in the sea! Indeed, located between the beaches and the mountains, the city of Monaco has difficulty to expand. In fact, it is one, if not the first, of the densest cities in the world in terms of number of inhabitants per square kilometer. To add six new hectares, it was therefore necessary to make room where it was possible, which means by extending towards the sea.

Technical feats

It is expected to be completed by 2025 and will house five buildings and fourteen villas. However, it was not a foregone conclusion. Between safeguarding the local fauna and flora, soundproofing and succeeding in backfilling all the volume of water that this represented, the construction site is on a large scale.

The foundations are supposed to be finished by the end of 2020, hoping that the pandemic has not delayed everything.

Finally, the first buildings will be completed by 2022 and our private drivers will be able to transport you to the extension of the Grimaldi Forum scheduled for 2024.
